SHAMAKHI TOUR

Today we will have a trip to the north-west of Azerbaijan. Shemakha is an ancient city of Azerbaijan founded in the V century BC. In XI-XVI centuries it was a capital of the kingdom of Shirvan and a residence of Shirvanshahs. Shemakha was one of the most beautiful cities in the East.

The Juma mosque

The Friday cathedral mosque located in the city of Shemakhy in the territory of Azerbaijan. The oldest mosque of the Caucasus and the Middle East after Derbent Dzhuma-mecheti.

Shemakhinsky district is rich with the mountain woods and meadows, is in a zone of moderate humidity. The most part of this area is the resort area with multiple springs of mountain water that does the city attractive to tourism.

Here too there is an astrophysical observatory. The Shemakhinsky astrophysical observatory of Nasreddin Tusi is located in the southeast foothills of the Big Caucasian ridge, on the basis of sector of "Astrophysics" of Institute of Physics of AN of Azerbaijan, in 22 km from the regional center of Shemakhy and in 144 km from Baku at the height of 1435 m. It is founded in 1960.

ISMAYILLI TOUR

The Ismayilli region, located to the north of the country, was part of Caucasian Albania since IV c. B.C. Here, on the top of the highest mountain there are ruins of a medieval fortress. Its creation is associated with the name Dzhavanshir, the ruler of Caucasian Albania (VII century).

This area differs in inexpressible beauty of the nature and existence of ancient settlements of people.

One of such settlements of people is Lagich .

Constructed by the principle of quarter building, Lagich represents an original monument of medieval town-planning and architectural art with paved streets and the areas, the developed system of the sewerage and water supply. The age of local sewer system is estimated approximately in 1000. All buildings are executed from the stone shifted by wooden yards.

Lagich — one of known in the Caucasus and beyond his limits of craft shopping centers.

Famous since the Middle Ages for production of cold weapon and the copper utensils decorated with the engraved ornament.

GABALA TOUR

Gabalinsky district an administrative unit in the north of Azerbaijan. Administrative center city of Gabala.

Gabala is one of the most beautiful parts of Azerbaijan with a rich and ancient history. Sometime in the past (for 600 years) this city (Kabala) was the capital of Caucasian Albania.

One of such lakes is the Nohur lake .

The resort Tufandag is in 4 km from the city of Gabala.

Tufandag's complex is calculated on service of 3000 people at the same time, restaurants and cafeterias work at the resort.

The Tufandag ski resort - the most modern resort not only in Azerbaijan, but also in all former Soviet Union, an alpine skiing complex is brought into operation in 2014.

SHEKI TOUR

One of the most ancient cities of Azerbaijan, Sheki is rightly called the architectural reserve of the country.

Of particular interest to the tourists from all over the world is the Palace of Sheki Khans (1762) – a rare example of combining the national and palace architecture traditions.

It is remarkable that during the construction of the palace, not a single nail was used, and the colored glass for shebeke (national mosaic) was brought from Venice.Sheki Khans' Palace (XVIII century).

It is necessary to mention also the Albanian temple in the settlement of Kish (the 1-2nd centuries).

In which the famous Norwegian Tur Heyerdal conducted researches more than once, what the traveller's bust established here testifies to.

At last the city of Shaki is well-known for the baklava melting in the mouth.

Shaki - the traditional center of national crafts. Still in the city there are names of streets designating ancient professions - Duluzchular (potters), Zargarlar (jewelers), Halvachylar (confectioners), etc.

GAKH TOUR

Gakhsky district is in the northwest of Azerbaijan which borders on Georgia. Distances to Baku of 345 km, the population makes 55 thousand people.

Gakhsky district is considered one of the most ancient regions of Azerbaijan in which the Azerbaijani tribes which are going in generally for crop production, livestock production, and also craft from time immemorial lived.

Gakhsky district is rich with the nature, the infinite woods, frozen springs, beautiful falls and the rivers do this region attractive not only for citizens of Azerbaijan.

In the territory of Gakhsky district the National park to Ilis, the area - 9,2 thousand hectares is located. 90% of the territory of the Ilisunsky reserve which is strictly protected are the woods of a mid-mountain belt.

In the mountain woods mountain goats, bears, boars, wolves, wild cats, jackals, rare birds including predatory are entered. And for the fan to catch fish, there are beautiful places in the Ganyg-Ayrichaysky valley.
